Excessive Exercise and Your Fertility

Did you know that an excessive exercise can affect your fertility? Some studies have proved that an excessive exercise can reduced the testosterone concentration in your body. And as we all know, testosterone is the kind of hormone that helps your testis to produce sperm cells. Now, you must be wondering how that can happen.

Testosterone is classified as a steroid hormone. There are many hormones that classified as steroid hormones, such as estrogen, testosterone, androgen, etc. These hormones (testosterone, estrogen and androgen) responsible for our secondary sex signs. Estrogen is a hormone that responsible for woman’s secondary sex sign, while testosterone responsible for man’s secondary sex sign. Androgen is a steroid hormone that will later be turned to testosterone or estrogen.

These hormones, especially estrogen, need fat cells in their making. That’s why, according to some studies, women in their menopausal years are more susceptible to cardiac disease than those in their reproductive years. Why??? It’s because the fat in the body of those in their reproductive years will be used to make estrogen. And it’s not just any fat; it’s the LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) which we all know as the bad fat that will be used to form an estrogen. In menopausal women, estrogen concentration will decrease rapidly. That’s why their LDL will just circulate in their blood stream and can create an atherosclerosis, which will lead to cardiac disease.

In men with some excessive exercise, the testosterone concentration will decrease, because the fat will be turned to estrogen instead of testosterone, and we all knew that we need testosterone to produce sperm cell that will then fused with the ovum to form a zygote that will later be a baby. So, from now on, if you want to have a muscled body, don’t just do some exercise, but also control your diet. Because as you now know, an excessive exercise can make you infertile.
